Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as asian restaurant, japanese restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Long Beach, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Long Beach is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Long Beach is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Sapporo Sushi was such a pleasant surprise! The restaurant has a warm, authentic Japanese atmosphere, making it a great place for a date night, dinner with friends, or a family meal. The menu is incredibly extensive, with everything from classic nigiri and sashimi to creative specialty rolls, hot dishes, noodles, and drinks. There are so many options that everyone can find something they enjoy. Our favorites were the Truffle Unagi, which was rich, smoky, and perfectly complemented by the truffle aroma, and the Uni Scallop, which was incredibly fresh, sweet, and melted in your mouth. The Baby Rockstar Roll was another standout, packed with flavorful crawfish and delicious from the first bite to the last. We also loved the Udon Mentaiko Pastaβthe chewy udon coated in a creamy mentaiko sauce was comforting and full of flavor. The presentation of every dish was beautiful, the fish tasted fresh, and the portions were generous. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the whole dining experience even better. If youβre in the Long Beach or Seal Beach area, this is definitely a sushi spot worth visiting. Iβll absolutely be coming back to try more from their menu. Highly recommend! π£

Really enjoyed our first visit to Sapporo Sushi! We shared several dishes, including the soft shell crab, takoyaki, sashimi platter, sushi sampler, and the Energy Roll. Everything was fresh, and the presentation was impressive. Two of us also tried the new peach and yuzu highballs, which were refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal. The restaurant has a warm Japanese vibe, making it a great place for a date or dinner with friends. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

Came here for a casual dinner and ended up pleasantly surprised. Great value, generous portions, and still nicely presented. The sushi platter was only $48.95 for 12 thick-cut pieces. The fish was very fresh, and the toro was super rich and fatty (almost too fatty, but in a good way). The scallop and uni combo was perfectly balanced sweet, clean tasting scallop with fresh, non fishy uni. The salmon ochazuke was comforting and flavorful, lightly seared on the outside and tender inside, with a subtle tea aroma. The Honeymoon salmon roll had great texture and layers of flavor, and even the truffle fries were surprisingly good. The restaurant is clean, lively, and has a cozy Japanese vibe. Definitely worth a visit.

Come here with a brunch of friends and we all love it. The decoration was pretty nice and felt like I was in Japan. They have specials for either special rolls or alcohol and great place for drinking. I love the truffle tuna roll and itβs a good portion. They can order the cold dishes for 2 pieces special which we love it. The service was great and totally recommended.

Arrived there past 3 pm so the restaurant was not crowded. We sat at a booth in the back and placed our order. I ordered βchicken katsu donβ and my friends ordered three item combo plates. The employee who took care of us checked in often, and i thought she was very thoughtful. Parking in front of the restaurant was full but there is a plenty of spots further away.
